Sarah Palin was billed to speak as the biggest attraction after Beck, though in truth she came and left early without leaving much of a mark. Jon Savage: When did you first realize that things were starting to break for the band?

Kurt Cobain: Probably while we were on tour in Europe in '91. We'd finished the "Teen Spirit" video and they started to play it while we were on tour. I got reports every once in a while from friends of mine, telling me that I was famous. So it didn't affect me until probably three months after we'd already been famous in America.

Jon Savage: Was there one moment when you walked into it and you suddenly realized?

Kurt Cobain: Yeah, when I got home. A friend of mine made a compilation of all the news stories about our band that appeared on MTV and the local news programs and stuff. It was frightening. It scared me.

Several Apple-specific packages are available in the Mactel Support Repository (the mactel ppa). The packages mostly work for both Hardy and Intrepid, although some packages are only useful for a particular release.

To add the ppa to your apt list use:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mactel-support

After adding the ppa, the package list needs to be updated:

sudo apt-get update

Caramelized Peanuts

You can easily cut the recipe in half, although I don’t think you’ll have any trouble finishing off a whole batch. I’ve made this many times using raw almonds and peanuts, but if you want to experiment with other nuts, I’d be interested in hearing how they turn out. I think round nuts work best so the sugar can tumble around and coat them, rather than get stuck in any pecan-like nooks and crannies.

2 cups (275g) raw peanuts (or almonds)
1 cup (200g) sugar
1/3 cup (75ml) water
a sprinkle of coarse sea salt (or smoked salt)
optional: ground cinnamon or chili powder

How to Disable Facebook Places UPDATE: As commenter Ryan G. points out, your location can be shared with friends' applications as well. To turn that off, you have to go to a completely different section. Click the "Applications and Settings" link (pictured to the left) and then go to the "Info accessible through your friends" section. Click "Edit Settings" and you'll see a bunch of boxes. Anything checked is available to Facebook apps that your friends are using. The last checkbox in this section is "Places I've visited," so uncheck that if you don't want your friends' apps grabbing your location information as well.

"I have this very abstract idea in my head," he confides.
